Tricia Prewitt is a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church (UMC). She has been actively researching the church’s history as part of the Defining Our Generation: Phase II Capital Campaign.
Contributing to the Franklin UMC assists the church in its work. It also helps to preserve a vital part of Franklin’s history. The Franklin UMC is the oldest single-purpose, continuously used church facility in the Town of Franklin. We are the oldest congregation to have never moved, merged, or rebuilt. Our facility has stood proudly for over 150 years! Our history has been long understated; and, we are learning much that has been forgotten.

Uncovering old photos of the Franklin United Methodist Church with the help of many people is quite rewarding. Imagine what Franklin was like back in the early 1800’s. Preserving historic buildings adds such character to New England towns. As Giving Tuesday approaches, there will be many opportunities to donate to a favorite cause or charity. If historical town preservation, and/ or architecture appeals to you, consider donating to the Capital Campaign at https://franklinumc.org/phase-ii/ as we strive to preserve and stabilize this beautiful building that serves as a community hub for many outreach programs. Any donation amount is appreciated. Thank you .

Over the next three years, we are embarking on an ambitious set of restoration and renovation projects. These projects will define our generation and create a lasting legacy. This legacy will impact our community (the church and the Town of Franklin) for generations. It will provide handicap accessible, temperature controlled spaces for community-building, learning, and worship. To learn more about our Phase II campaign, click here.
