Community @FranklinUMC is a community building outreach of the Franklin United Methodist Church. Each program seeks to provide opportunities for all persons to meet, serve, and share with neighbors. As we do these things together–meet, serve, share with others–the bonds of understanding and friendship are forged and the foundations of our community are strengthened.
The programs offered by the Community @FranklinUMC are varied and ever-evolving as the needs of the community are made known. Below are a few of the programs currently being offered.
The Community Closet @FranklinUMC collects and distributes new and gently used clothing, free of charge, to anyone and everyone in the community. The Closet is open regularly and as-needed to meet emergency needs. It is sourced and staffed by community volunteers. You can find the latest update about the Community Closet here.
Community Cookouts @FranklinUMC offer free hot dogs, burgers, and an inclusive environment for neighbors to meet and share a meal outdoors together. Cookouts are scheduled monthly during warm weather months and staffed by community volunteers. Dates for the 2024 Community Cookouts can be found here.
Community Concerts @FranklinUMC are an opportunity for local artists and musicians to share their creative talents with and inspire the community. Franklin UMC offers an intimate acoustic venue space in its historic sanctuary that features a century-old tracker organ. Concerts are currently being scheduled for the late summer and fall of 2024. More details will be shared in the coming weeks.
In addition to the ongoing programs listed above, the Community @FranklinUMC offers several other seasonal programs including a Community Easter Egg Hunt and Community Trunk or Treat.
Have ideas about additional ongoing or one-time community programs and events? Reach out to Pastor Jacob. You don’t have to be a member of the church to organize a group or activity. You just have to have a desire to build community by meeting, serving, and sharing with your neighbors.
