Dear Franklin UMC members and friends,
On Sunday, August 27, following worship at 10am, we will hold a community conversation about our proposed capital campaign and take a congregational vote to “move forward with a capital campaign using Horizons Stewardship.”
At the last Church Council meeting on Sunday, July 16, 2023, we reviewed the “Feasibility-Readiness Study Report” prepared by Tom Melzoni of Horizons Stewardship. Based on congregational data, personal interviews, and a review of our financial history, Tom believes “the church is in an excellent position to be led through a capital campaign.” The Church Council unanimously voted to recommend to the congregation that we move forward with the campaign and leverage the expertise and experience of Tom Melzoni and Horizons Stewardship. On Sunday, August 27 following worship, we will discuss the Council’s recommendation and vote.
In preparation for this meeting, the Council called together an Ad hoc Capital Campaign Priorities Committee to begin discerning priorities for a phased, or tiered, capital campaign. This committee, using the recommendations from Horizons Stewardship, suggests the following campaign phases and project priorities:
At the meeting on August 27, we will discuss the rationale behind these suggested fundraising levels and the order of these projects. To learn more about the big dream, check out the “Defining Our Generation” presentation and materials here.
I hope you will join us on Sunday, August 27, at 10am, for worship followed by an important discussion and vote on how we will move forward with some much-needed renovations and upgrades to our facility. We will gather in a hybrid setting. If you cannot make it in-person to the church, I hope you will consider joining us in-person via Google Meet. You must participate in-person (at the church or via Google Meet) in order to vote and participate in the discussion.
As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, August 27, at 10am!
Peace.
Pastor Jacob
