It really feels like last week we hit our stride. Each Tuesday, the Closet is becoming more and more of what we hoped it would be—a place where neighbors linger, browse, chat, and build relationships. Our volunteers have been thoughtfully adjusting the layout of racks and tables so there’s plenty of room to move, greet one another, and discover clothing that feels just right. We’re close to a consistent weekly setup, and the flow is starting to feel natural and welcoming.
The outpouring of shoppers this summer has been tremendous. This past Tuesday was our busiest day yet, with around 30 community members stopping in. The energy was joyful—kids exploring, parents comparing sizes, neighbors helping neighbors find something they’ll love.
As families begin their back‑to‑school preparations, we’re noticing a growing need for children’s clothing, especially for school‑age kids. Our adult racks are also running low, and we would be grateful for any gently‑used items you’re ready to pass along. While we continue to set out summer clothing, we’re also beginning to prepare for fall—light layers, long sleeves, and transitional pieces are especially helpful.
Donation Hours
Donations can be dropped off inside the community entrance during the following times:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays during Closet hours, 12:00–2:00 p.m.
All donations must be placed indoors. If you would like an in‑kind giving receipt, the Office is happy to provide one.

The Community Closet @FranklinUMC collects and distributes new and gently used clothing, free of charge, to anyone and everyone in the community. The Closet is open regularly and as-needed to meet emergency needs. It is sourced and staffed by community volunteers.
