🌱 Q1 Highlights at Franklin UMC: Growing, Serving, and Building What’s Next

As the first quarter of 2026 comes to a close, Franklin UMC is buzzing with movement, gratitude, and hope. These first few months of 2026 have been full of neighbors served, ministries strengthened, and major steps forward in our long‑term vision for a more accessible, community-centered church. We’re excited to share a few highlights that are setting the tone for an incredible year.

Community Impact in Q1

Our ministries continue to grow in reach and depth, and we’re seeing the difference week after week.

  • The Community Closet has remained fully stocked and open every Tuesday from 12–2 p.m., serving an average of 13 neighbors each week. Donations can be dropped off inside the main entrance Tuesday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–12 p.m., or during open hours. Your generosity, and that of the wider Franklin community, keeps this ministry thriving. Please note: anything dropped off in the Helpsy bin outside does not get sorted and put out in the Community Closet. All donations for the Community Closet must be dropped off inside the building.
  • Worship attendance is rising, with an average of 31 people gathering each week, an increase of nearly 11% over the same months last year. New faces, returning families, and a renewed sense of connection are shaping our Sundays.
  • The Defining Our Generation Capital Campaign continues to move forward. Phase III construction began in January and includes a full renovation of the lower level, two new classrooms on the main level, and a new ground‑level entry with a lift to make both levels ADA compliant. Work is progressing well, and we anticipate completion in the next couple of months.
  • A major milestone for our future: In March, we received a $75,000 grant from the Greater Milford Regional Health Network (CHNA‑6) to renovate our kitchen into a community-based commissary kitchen: the first of its kind in Franklin. Covering roughly 80% of the project cost, this grant helps launch The Commissary @FranklinUMC, a shared kitchen designed to expand food access, support local food entrepreneurs, and strengthen relationships around the table. More details and partnerships will be shared soon.

Financial Snapshot

Your generosity is what makes all of this possible. Total income for the quarter was $98,682.22, while total expenses (including capital campaign/improvement work) were $119,546.63. About half of the $20,864.41 deficit reflects capital campaign spending from funds raised late last year; the remainder is typical early‑year general fund spending that exceeds income in a typically low season for the church. This is a moment that invites us to respond with shared responsibility and faith.

How You Can Support This Work

If you feel called to help sustain and strengthen these ministries, we invite you to make a one-time gift or set up a recurring contribution. Every donation, large or small, helps us remain a place of welcome, love, and hope for our community. You can give online at onrealm.org/FranklinUMC/give/now or by mailing a check to the Franklin UMC, PO Box 313, Franklin, MA 02038.

Thank You

Thank you to all the church, community members, and new neighbors for showing up, giving, praying, serving, and believing in what God is doing here. Franklin UMC is stronger and more community‑centered because of you. If you have questions, ideas, or simply want to connect, reach out anytime to Pastor Jacob. We’re grateful for you, and we’re excited for all that lies ahead in 2026.
