Dear Franklin UMC members and friends,
As we approach the holiest days of the Christian year, you are invited to walk with us through the story of Jesus’ passion: causing a stir as he enters in Jerusalem, gathering at the table in love, facing the cross, and rising in victory over sin and death.
🌿 Palm Sunday Worship • This Sunday, March 29 • 10:00 a.m.
We begin our journey with Palm Sunday as Jesus enters Jerusalem, stirring up the city and inviting us to consider what kind of Savior we welcome. We’ll wave palms, lift our voices, and step into the story that leads us toward the Upper Room, the cross, and the empty tomb. Details for this service can be found here.
🍽️ Maundy Thursday Potluck • Thursday, April 2 • 5:30 p.m.
We’ll gather for a shared potluck meal as we remember Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples. Bring your favorite dish to share. If you aren’t able to bring something, that’s OK. There will be plenty of food. After we eat and read the story of Jesus’ last supper with his disciples, we will strip the altar and sanctuary—clearing the space in preparation for the solemnity of Good Friday.
✝️ Good Friday Tenebrae • Friday, April 3 • 7:00 p.m.
On Good Friday, we gather in deepening shadows to bear witness to the cross. Through scripture, silence, and the extinguishing of light, we will hear Jesus’ final words and remember the depth of God’s love for the world. Details for this service can be found here).
🌅 Easter Sunday Celebration • Sunday, April 5 • 10:00 a.m.
Come celebrate the resurrection of Christ with joyful worship, music, and the good news that life and love have the final word. Following worship at 11:15 a.m., all are invited to a FREE Community Easter Egg Hunt on the church lawn—open to children, families, neighbors, and friends. It’s a joyful way to share hope with our community.
Holy Week invites us to slow down, bear witness to God’s steadfast love, and walk with Jesus as he embodies that love and teaches us how to share it. I hope you’ll join us on the journey either in-person, via Google Meet or streaming/archived on YouTube (available on Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday).
Peace,
Pastor Jacob
