The Community Closet @FranklinUMC was created based on the primary belief that neighbors can meet the needs of their neighbors, and that the community is strengthened and built as neighbors meet, serve, and share with one another.
This past month we saw the generous donation of new wall racks and lighting. The racks have been installed and have allowed us to begin hanging women’s shirts and dresses. This allows for easier access and a tidier shopping environment.
We continue to see a high need for kid’s clothing (3mo to 4T, in particular) along with small and medium size men’s and women’s clothing.
In order to provide some amount of equity and to make sure that we have the most items out when shoppers arrive, we will be limiting shopping days to twice per month and by appointment. This will free up two weeks each month for sorting and tidying up the space.
The Community Closet @FranklinUMC continues to adapt. It is meeting the needs of our neighbors. This community–every donation, every volunteer, every shopper–is made stronger by the contributions of every single one of us. Thank you!
June Dates! and Updated Flyer.
Below is the updated flyer for June. Please post print, email, and distribute the flyer below to let people know about the Community Closet @FranklinUMC.
Please note that in addition to the shopping days posted on the flyer, there will be two sorting ONLY days in June on the 11th and 25th. You can signup to volunteer by going to franklinumc.org/volunteer.
And, if you’d like to make an appointment to shop privately, please contact the Franklin UMC office to make an appointment at [email protected] or by calling 508-528-1092.
All are welcome to shop at the Community Closet. We are looking to open at other limited times that coordinate with other community events hosted at FranklinUMC. Watch for the announcement of those limited openings with the posting of other community events.

Baby Clothing (3-24 months)
Children’s Clothing (2T-4T)
Men’s Clothing (Small and Medium)
Women’s Clothing (Small and Medium)
Donations can be dropped off inside the Main Entrance of the Franklin United Methodist Church (82 W. Central Street, Franklin, MA), Monday through Friday 8a-1p (excluding holidays) and Sundays 9:30a-11a.
MEET & SERVE
Volunteering is a great way to meet others (both those who are volunteering and those who are shopping). Please note: volunteers must be able to navigate stairs as the Community Closet is in the old balcony of the church. You can signup to volunteer at franklinumc.org/volunteer. Tuesday, June 11 & 25, 11a-1p, is a day to SORT ONLY. The Community Closet will not be open for shopping on Tuesday, June 4 & 18, 2024. If you would like to sign up a group to volunteer from your organization, outside the listed times, please contact Pastor Jacob at [email protected].
