Dear members and friends of Franklin United Methodist Church,
2023 marks two important anniversaries in the life of our congregation: the 150th anniversary of the consecration of our facility at 82 W. Central Street and the 170th anniversary of the first Methodist class meeting in Franklin. As we mark these important anniversaries, I invite you to rededicate yourself to the work of the church.
Churches in The United Methodist tradition are communities “duly constituted and organized for the glory of God, the proclamation of the gospel, and the service of humanity” (from The United Methodist Book of Worship). Each of the next four weeks—Sundays, October 8-throught 29—we will be considering what it means to dedicate ourselves to:
…gathering with other Christians (October 8).
…the glory of God (October 15).
…the proclamation of the gospel (October 22).
…the service of humanity (October 29).
On Sunday, November 5, we will make a public rededication of ourselves to this work. You will be invited to fill out and return your pledge card by Sunday, November 5. Pledge cards will be sent out via USPS and an online form will go live next week.
I hope you’ll join me over the next few weeks in worship on Sundays at 10am at the church and via Google Meet and streaming any time on YouTube as we celebrate the creation and dedication of our church and rededicate ourselves to the vital and life-giving work of Christ.
As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Peace.
Jacob
