Racism is sinful. “Racism is the combination of the power to dominate by one race over other races and a value system that assumes that the dominant race is innately superior to the others… We commit as the Church to move beyond symbolic expressions and representative models that do not challenge unjust systems of power and access.” (from The Social Principles of The United Methodist Church).
On this Juneteenth, The Bishops of The United Methodist Church are calling us–as individuals and as a congregation– to take a stand against racism and press on to freedom. You can find their call to action below.
We hope and pray that you will join in these important conversations, stand against racism, and join us to promote and work toward racial justice.
